The keymapping plugin was a custom one, not created by adoxa. I don’t have the source code but I contacted the creator of the dll. It might take a few days to get a reply.

The 1.1 patch indeed did the trick with vanilla FL.
I also narrowed down the issue with the mod incompatiblity to two custom plugins. One plugin that altered some keymapping stuff (apparently conflicts with your keymapping code) -> in the end not a big deal. The other plugin is a custom anticheat version. This needs some further investigation.
In the end probably nothing that would cause troubles for other mods/players. -

Maybe it would be worth to include the 1.1 patch right into the renderer download to simplify it for the players? Again, just an idea.
If I get it working with the 1.1 patch I probably can try to figure out why the modded game crashes as soon the mouse cursor moves. I’ll share the results as soon available. Maybe that might help others if they run into similar issues. -
First off, thanks for all the effort developing this new renderer. I think this has much potential to keep FL relevant and interesting for the players.
I’ve read through that other thread and also tried to get the beta 2 running.
In both cases I have questions.- Credit is of course given where credit is due. But the way how stuff is credited also might matter (or maybe not). What I mean is, would it be sufficient to write “Advanced Renderer by Schmackbolzen” or would you prefer maybe a more detailed reference… maybe with link to a project website or a link to this thread so people can actually find the original source and also know how to easily get in contact with you if required. Maybe a text snippet to use for the credit. Just a thought.
- Like I mentioned I just downloaded the beta 2 and wanted to give it a quick try. Everything done so far more or less was based on assumptions… so I copied the content right over test version of my mod and launched it. The game loaded, main menu appeared flawlessly and lighting changes instantly were visible. So far so good. However, moving the mouse just one pixel did lead to an instant crash. I tried this 5-6 times always with the same result.
Since there could be some unknown incompatibility with my mod and the new renderer I tried it with vanilla FL (fresh install + no-cd exe). Vanilla FL loads fine, there are visible changes on the main menu, mouse movement does not cause a crash. However, clicking on new game instantly crashes the game.
While potential issues with heavily modified FL mods are not that surprising the vanilla FL crash is. Even more since the crash while launching a new SP game always happens in server.dll (at offset 0x0001b300).
Maybe I am doing something wrong (clearly can not be excluded at this point).
Are there further ways to debug stuff with the new renderer?

You are using a mod, right?
What you describe sounds pretty much like an active OpenSP. Try to check if there is an OpenSP option activated somewhere.
If so, deactivate it and load the mission generated savegame prior to that point. -

Laz Enable Borderless Window (disable caption flags) (PART 2)I just had a player request regarding the borderless window. Since removing the border he can no longer move the window (he said he likes to play with 4:3 resolutions). I did not expect this to ever be an issue but I guess I was wrong.
Tested it and the FL window is stuck to the top left corner of the screen. Without border no way to drag the window to the center (or anywhere else).
For now I proposed to use winexplorer to set a custom position for the Freelancer process.
Alternative to that I was wondering if its possible to enable something like the WS_SYSMENU option on FL somehow. That way alt+space would open a context menu with a move option.
Any ideas if that is possible? -
1. Since when does Discovery extend SP? I might not be up to date but to my knowledge that’s not really a key feature of the mod.
2. For people wanting to play SP there are plenty of mods at moddb which despite the changes and additions still allow to play the vanilla storyline. To my knowledge there are three mods extending the FL storyline. Crossfire, Nomad Legacy and another which name I currently don’t remember but know that it can be found at moddb.
3. You might not like certain other mods (for whatever reasons) but generally your personal opinion might not be the deciding factor for other players out there. Is it such a terrible idea to point players into the direction where they can find all the mods and make their OWN decision about what they like to play?Really…

That highly depends on what you are looking for.
Many different mods with different styles.best is if you take a look at https://www.moddb.com/games/freelancer/mods and see if anything fits to what you are looking for.

I have my doubts that the way how it works is different in SP. There is no reason why the death fuse would work differently.
The only difference I see is that the SP environment is not persistent and that you reset it by loading a savegame in order to respawn. -
The issue simply is while in MP the system remains loaded in its current state because the server software is there to do so, in SP there is no server to keep the system loaded. Once you respawn you reset all the conditions when the last savegame is loaded. There is nothing left to be loaded from your dropped equipment.
Like Adoxa said. Only way would be running a local server.
Only other way would be to have a plugin which tracks player death and all dropped items in the current system and then writes them into the autosave.fl
But the effort for that certainly is very high.
That leads to the next issue. How to load lootcrates back into the game from such a savegame? FL by default does not do that. -

The high prices don’t surprise me… its a rarity meanwhile and demand is higher than the supply.

Well there at least has beem a physical sale of the game a few years ago with Ubisoft as publisher.
I think that publishing the game is tricky due to licencing. It could be that MS would have to re-licence third-party code that was used in FL. The effort might be bigger than the benefit (usual company thinking applied).
Then again there is the question where to publish a digital copy. Most platforms of course want a fair share of the profit which reduces the benefit for Microsoft even more. Using the Xbox store probably was not an option due to UWP.
We also could speculate under which circumstances Digital Anvil was sold to Microsoft and what conditions for publishing the game exist.
Just hypothetical: it would be that Chris Roberts said “here you can have the game and my company and in return I get 5$ for every sold copy” (such deals are not unusual). This of course would eliminate every incentive for MS to sell a 20 years old game anywhere.Lots of speculation but the truth probably isn’t all that far away from that.
